1st day of school

i sincerely apologize for the lack of posts for the 3 readers of this blog thus far. it has been a crazy week for both of us; school starts again this week. so nervous.

last week we started our fall 2010 pieces and 2 of them are completely finished- two more are in the works. we also finished a few more that were works in progress for quite a while. expect about 6 more boxes to finally be put in the etsy shop this week.

sorry about the short post, but i need to try and sleep. mathematical modeling in population biology tomorrow at 9:30 am. eek.

sincerely,

theMarte

we finally made it to the craft store yesterday with some  coupons, and we are now ready to start work on some fall themed pieces.  we bought this book with a ton of gorgeous fall themed paper designs, 10x better than what they were selling loose. we finished 2 more last night that will be appearing on etsy in the coming hours...

this guy got adopted from the shelter yesterday:
isn't he cute? he's been at the shelter a while now so it's great he found a home
some more mushes waiting for homes at the town of north hempstead animal shelter:
sally the foxhound

truffle the pit bull

we are about 95% sure that we are going to be appearing at theMarte craft flea market on september 25th in the upper west side in new york city. if you haven't heard of theMarte yet, you should. it's an upscale flea market where a large portion of vendor proceeds go to projects in the nyc public school districts. more details to come.

some new ones

we were going to travel to the craft store to purchase some necessary supplies to do some crafting tonight, however our plans were foiled when my dad's dinosaur of a computer (the only one in the house connected to a printer) refused to load the coupon page- and let's face it, we were not about to walk into a craft store not armed with plenty of 50% off coupons. instead we ended up visiting with grandma and eating pie.

here are 2 of our latest finished ones:
luck of the irish

filigree copper

we are watching project runway and are appalled at the judge's reaction on michael's design to compliment the philip tracey hat. it's awesome i don't care what they say.

anyway, we are having a clearance sale on select items. some of our older items that have not sold yet are now 25% off; originally $18 is now %13.50 and originally $15 is now $11.25. you should check it out.

the first post

because it's 12:30 am and I have to be up in less than 7 hours, i will keep this short. we are dexterous design, cleverly named after our favorite little dog, dexter, whom i'm sure you will come to know. one of us in an aspiring ecologist, the other a graphic designer, and as far as we both could remember (and that's far, since we have been friends for almost 15 years) we have always used and enjoyed various forms of art as an outlet for creativity and relaxation. originally we began making the trinket boxes as personalized unique gifts for friends and family. eventually we ran out of people to make them for, so we decided to continue creating them and ended up with a surplus and no idea what to do with them; as we were both long term members of the buyer community on etsy, we decided to open up our own little shop in april 2010. we plan to use this as a space to blog about our own shop, our favorite etsy findings, and potentially update on day to day life.

goodnight,
genna
